Luis Tapia, is a graduate of UC San Diego who holds a degree in Political Science and a minor in International Migration Studies. He partook in the Center For Comparative Immigration Studies Mexican Migration Field Research and Training Program at UCSD, where he conducted field research on migration patterns between Yucatan, Mexico and the United States The results were published in Mayan Journeys: The New Migration from Yucatan to the United States. Luis also worked in the U.S. Embassy's Commercial Section in Mexico City and has also been involved with housing related issues working as a mortgage and real-estate consultant focusing primarily on first time Latino home buyers. His hometown is Galt, California.
