Polanco Fellow

Alex Milan Delgadillo, Selected as the 2011-2012 Polanco Fellows Class Leader, received his Bachelors Degree in Politics with a Minor in Legal Studies from the University of San Francisco (USF), a Jesuit Institution in 2010.   Prior to transferring to USF, Alex is a product of California’s diverse community college system having attended Los Angeles City College, Rio Hondo Community College, and Glendale Community College earning his undergraduate units.  In addition to finding academic success at USF and being inducted into the Jesuit Honor Society--Alpha Sigma Nu, Alex competed with USF’s Track and Field Team as the team’s leader.

Prior to Alex being selected as a 2011-2012 Polanco Fellow, he was an active member of his community, working in his neighborhood of Highland Park for LA's BEST: After School Enrichment Program and gained experience with multiple volunteer opportunities including: the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights in the Bay Area, San Francisco County Supervisor Jake McGoldrick, Community Coalition of South Los Angeles, UNITE HERE Local 11, and the district office of then State Senator Gil Cedillo.

Raised with his family in Northeast Los Angeles, Alex aspires to become a public servant with a vision of building community coalitions statewide needed to lead California on the key issues affecting its future--education, poverty, and immigration.  Alex hopes to continue USF's tradition by centering his work on social justice issues and "educating minds and hearts to change the world."
