December 2, 2011 - The California Latino Caucus Institute’s (CLCI) Madrinas Padrinos Leadership Program (MPLP) hosted its 8th Annual Holiday Drive Reception at Tamayo’s Restaurant in East Los Angeles. This year’s toy drive benefited the children of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles and the Inland Empire. With a donation of an un-wrapped toy attendees were treated to a glamorous red-carpet night of special guest speakers, raffles, a silent auction, gourmet appetizers and live entertainment from a quartet of authentic mariachis. Reception sponsors State Farm and PepsiCo were honored during the reception for their generous support of the toy drive.
Each year MPLP selects a deserving service providing non-profit agency to support during the holiday season. Since 2004, through its toy drive receptions, MPLP has collected over 1200 toys for several Los Angeles based non-profits such as Angel Step Inn Women’s Shelter, MELA Counseling Services and Padres Contra el Cancer.
