Laura Peralta is a native of Codoba, Argentina, and was raised in Anaheim, CA. As an immigrant, Laura has always been passionate about immigrant right issues. She attended the University of California, Irvine where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Political Science. While at UC Irvine, Laura conducted research focused on the higher educational attainment of immgrant students and was co-founder of the Latino Business Student Association. Upon graduation, Laura went on to work as caseworker for Congresswoman Lucille-Roybal Allard in Los Angeles. In this capacity, Laura served as liaison between constituents and federal agencies and handled issues of immigration, Social Security and Veterans Affairs. Additionally, Laura has worked as an educator for Anaheim City School District and as Fund Development Coordinator for Legal Aid Society of Orange County.
In May 2010, Laura graduated from USC's School of Policy, Planning, and Development with a Masters Degree in Public Administration and a Certificate in Public Policy. During her time in graduate school, Laura interned for LA City Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's Executive Office of Education, Youth, and Families and at the White House Office of Cabinet Affairs under President Barack Obama in Washington, DC. Laura currently works as Legislative Deputy for LA City Councilmember Bernard Parks and continues her efforts to serve underrepresented communities.
