Director of Membership


Kristie Hernández has led a life in public service.  Her personal and work experiences have all been in the public and non-profit sector.  She has a genuine interest and commitment to serving the public and lower-socioeconomic communities.  She worked as an instructional aide for the second largest school district in the nation – the Los Angeles Unified School District. Kristie advocated with the nation’s leading Latino civil rights organization on education related issues – the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF).  She also worked closely with the first female Senate Majority Leader of the California Legislature, Senator Gloria Romero, as her district representative. Kristie is currently working full-time at the largest federally qualified health center organization in the United States, AltaMed Health Services Corporation, as a policy analyst in the Government Relations Department.  Kristie is also pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a certificate in Public Administration at the University of Southern California.  She is a board member of the East Los Angeles Residents Association which continues its historical movement to make East Los Angeles its own city.  Kristie completed her Bachelor of Arts at UCLA where she majored in Comparative Literature and double minored in public policy and education.
