Director of Finance


Julio Esperias serves as the lead South Los Angeles Community Organizer for the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust (LANLT) to create accessible community green and open spaces  toward addressing the inequity of open spaces in Los Angeles’ underserved neighborhoods. In his current capacity, Julio is working to enhance and ensure organizing work is meeting LANLT’s mission and goals by forming comprehensive partnerships with community-based organizations, schools, elected officials and community members within the South Los Angeles area.

Julio began his professional career with Southwest Voter Registration Education Project where he gained valuable insight on the importance of increasing the participation of Latinos in the American democratic process. Julio has worked for non-profit organizations focusing on a wide variety of issues, including HIV/AIDS, STEM education, immigration, and voter education,. Julio worked for NALEO Educational Fund, where he was responsible for the recruitment of the nation's Latino elected and appointed officials. In this capacity Julio played an important role in shaping the largest national network of Latino leaders devoted to shaping and improving American society.

A native of South Los Angeles, Julio is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Legal Studies. Julio has a vast interest in helping communities in South Los Angeles and policy makers find strategic solutions to problems associated to land use, housing, economic development, the environment, sustainability, and the design of livable communities.
