Marcella Cortez is currently serving California State Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez as a Senior Field Representative.  She attended the University of California, Los Angeles where she earned her Bachelors of Arts in History and Minors in Public Policy and Chicano Studies. 

Marcella began her career in public service as a Field Representative for Assemblymember Judy Chu in the 49th Assembly District.  She then went on to serve Councilmember Jose Huizar in the City of Los Angeles as Area Director of his El Sereno Field Office.

A long-time resident of Alhambra, Marcella is currently serving her third term as a 49th Assembly District Delegate for the California Democratic Party.
