Aaron Rios began his career with Walmart in 1993. He is a true Walmart success story.
Aaron started working with Walmart as an hourly associate stocking shelves on the graveyard shift in his
hometown of Hanford California while attending college. Recognized for his hard work and dedication,
Aaron quickly found himself in the company’s Management Training program. It was here that he decided
that Walmart was a company where he wanted to pursue a career.
Aaron found himself relocating often as he worked his way up the management ladder. At only 23 years of
age, Aaron became the Store Manager of a Walmart Store in Palmdale, California. Within three years, he
became the Store Manger of his 3rd store, a Walmart with groceries in Las Vegas, NV.
Following 5 years of being a Store Manager, Aaron was promoted to District Manager in the Antelope and
Victor Valley areas of California. In this capacity, he oversaw the operations and management of seven
stores from Barstow to Palmdale. After two years as a District Manager, Aaron was promoted once again to
Market Manager of the Inland Empire where he was responsible for 12 stores, over 4,000 Associates, and
annual sales exceeding $800 million.
It was from the Operations side of the business that Aaron joined Walmart’s Public Affairs and Government
Relations Team in 2007 as the Senior Manager for Central California. In January of 2009 his responsibility
expanded again assuming the state of Nevada in addition to the Central California region. In February of
2010 Aaron took over responsibility for the Southern California Region and it’s more than 20 million
residents – one of Walmart’s key growth areas . In this capacity, Aaron works with elected officials on behalf
of the company. He is also responsible for coordinating Walmart's efforts in community outreach and
education on issues such as healthcare, sustainability, and the economic benefits that Walmart brings to
communities.
He is also involved with social and non profit organizations that benefit the greater good of California
communities. He has worked with the California YMCA Youth & Government Model Legislature and Court
Program since 1991 where he helps educate high school young adults on the process of the three branches
of Government. Aaron serves as a Community Advisory Member for the Social Action Community Health
System Clinics (SACHS) associated with Loma Linda Medical Center and the Southern California Army
Advisory Board. He is also on the Corporate Advisory Board for the California Latino Caucus Institute. He is
a graduate of Leadership Los Angeles class of 2008, Leadership Southern California class of 2009, and
participated in California Connection 2010, all programs which are part of the Southern California
Leadership Network. Finally, he is the Chair elect for the Board of Directors of the California YMCA Youth &
Government program and a member of the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Aaron lives in Southern California with his family and has a 9 year old son and 4 year old daughter.
