Board Member


Bob Pacheco served as a member of the California State Legislature representing the 60th Assembly District from 1998 to 2004. In May 2005, Governor Schwartzenegger appointed Bob to a four-year term on the CAL-OSHA Appeals Board. In May 2006 President George W. Bush appointed Bob to the United States Naval Academy Board of Visitors.

Bob received an Associate of Arts Degree from East Los Angeles Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration/Management from California State University, Los Angeles. Bob went on to earn a Juris Doctorate degree from Western State University School of Law and was admitted to the California State Bar in 1974.

Bob's professional career spans 52 years including the practice of law for over 30 years, as vice president for a major bank, and, early in his career, as a store supervisor for large supermarket chains.  In addition to those fields of employment, Bob and his wife Gayle currently own and operate a successful manufacturing company.

In the Assembly Bob served as Vice Chair of the Higher Education, Health Committee, Local Government Committee, and the Judiciary Committee. He was also a key member of the Budget, Ethics and Appropriation Committees.  As Chair of the Latino Republican Caucus he spearheaded efforts, to expand Latino community awareness and political participation on important issues.

Bob was a strong and outspoken leader in the Legislature to assure fairness in the funding of Community Colleges. He worked diligently to have them recognized for creating the best and most efficient use of education dollars and for being an important resource for educating the work force of California. He fought hard for Community Colleges and was instrumental in having nearly $200 million added to their annual budget for maintenance, library and upgrading of teaching materials and technology.  Bob's fight for education by improving schools, increasing government accountability, and his leadership in the protection of small businesses and the education of California's workforce is well recognized by constituents and colleagues alike.

During his tenure in the Assembly Bob championed numerous causes including:

  • Principal Co-Author of a new law protecting children by mandating publishing and allowing public   access to Internet location information on registered sex offenders
  • Reforming laws that reduce or eliminate frivolous litigation
  • Opposing deficit spending and expansion of government programs
  • Opposing misuse of gas tax revenue intended for transportation infrastructure
  • Returning a fair share of tax revenues to local government
  • Championing legislative changes to stop frivolous lawsuits that was finally enacted into law by voter support of proposition 64 in the year 2004
