Ms. Medina formerly served as the Director of the Children's Health Outreach Initiative. In this role, she was responsible for developing and implementing an outreach plan with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services. Her primary responsibility was enrolling eligible children and families in health coverage programs. Many of these families were in underserved communities in Los Angeles County.
In 2005 Ms. Medina retired after serving 33 years with the County of Los Angeles. She has remained very active in the Southern California community volunteering with numerous organizations. Currently she serves on several other Boards including the Los Angeles County Hispanic Managers Scholarship Foundation. In the last two years, her volunteer efforts have including travel to New Orleans to assist the Katrina Red Cross Clean Up Program and, as part of the California State Senate delegation to Chiapas, Mexico, assisting in the development of a California-Mexico cross border women's shelter.
Ms. Medina currently lives in Whittier California and enjoys hiking and leisure travel.
